Well, according to this apparently the following things do not classify as a Geeky New Years:

Moving your friend from his house to his condo.

Setting up a cable modem to enable XBL

Getting Applebee's Carside To Go (I'll have a quesadilla)

Imbibing in a bevy of beverages.

Playing said XBL until 11:55, stopping to watch the ball drop, then resuming said XBL

Finally crashing after a lot of physical labor and altered video playing
