So I created a twitter account tonight as a alternative to updating my away messages/facebook/myspace updates. So, if you want to know what's up, you can hit me here on my site via the sidebar twitter badge located to the right, or add the rss feed to your favorite rss aggregator Now, off to figure out how I can easily add entries. If only I could run this :-( Maybe someday. (Fingers Crossed).

Hi, It's Allen, I'll have my regular please

"Sure Allen, just pull around to the Drive through window. I actually have your Grande, No Fat, Carmel Macchiato ready to go for you." That sounds great doesn't it? Well, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, I attended a Fairborn City Planning meeting this evening concerning the proposal of a 1800sq ft Starbucks facility. This facility would be part of a roughly 4 acre plot of potential new businesses located within walking distance of my condo. At the meeting tonight items were discussed in relation to many aspects of what would be required for this Starbucks. Things such as traffic patterns in and out of the vicinity, possible uses for the remaining ~3 acre plot, and concerns of the local condo association residents. Previously, plans for a McDonald's, Speedway, and Shell stations were all shot down due to the heavy traffic impact, pedestrian and vehicular, concerns such businesses would have as well as waste concerns the customers could leave behind. 4 residents, including myself, voiced their favoritism for a Starbucks facility, recognizing the fact that the area is in need of some development, but previous businesses were deemed too large. I stated in my address to the board, "My name is Allen Dukes and I'm a resident of the condos adjacent to the proposed lot. I'm also a 20 something Computer Scientist who works in the area and passes by this lot everyday on my way to work. I don't think it will come of any surprise that I would be in favor of a Starbucks conveniently located for me. My main reason for coming tonight is to review the plans and check that a drive through was considered as an option in the development." That was the basis of my rant. I think the board was slightly amused, and seemed to be in favor of the Starbucks. The main issues now concern the remaining plots of land in the immediate area, and traffic patterns in and out of the area. Other than that, it seems like most are in favor of the establishment, and I'll be happy with it when it finally gets finished. mmmmmm

Geeky New Years

Well, according to this apparently the following things do not classify as a Geeky New Years:

  • Moving your friend from his house to his condo.
  • Setting up a cable modem to enable XBL
  • Getting Applebee's Carside To Go (I'll have a quesadilla)
  • Imbibing in a bevy of beverages.
  • Playing said XBL until 11:55, stopping to watch the ball drop, then resuming said XBL
  • Finally crashing after a lot of physical labor and altered video playing

    void RemoveGeekPoints(){
    Me.Geek_Points--;
    }
  •
