There's something in the air....

and no, it isn't that I just farted. I've been debating an Apple laptop for a good while now. First I was waiting for the release of Leopard (Oct 2007.) Didn't buy one then because I figured I could wait a few more months until Mac World (Today - Jan 2008) due to a lot of rumors saying they would release a MacBook Pro but at the MacBook size. Unfortunately, what we got was a slower, albeit lighter and smaller MacBook Air

Comparison Chart (Click for large version):

I think the Pro is out of the running for my personal use because the main drive for me is the physical footprint of the device (and I may talk the boss into one for work). So if I went with a MacBook, and spec'd it out, I can save $300 over the Air and $500 over the Pro (out of the running anyway). Benefits of the MacBook over the MacBook Air: slightly heavier laptop, but it would be faster, have more hard drive space, expandable memory, an extra USB port, a firewire port, and an included optical drive. Benefits of the MacBook Air: backlit keyboard and it weighs less. All other specs, to me, are statistically irrelevant: Battery life differences, Bluetooth differences, video accessories. So I think I may go to the Apple store this weekend and come back with a nice Black MacBook. Thoughts / Suggestions? leave 'em in the comments.
